For many adults, a single implant is the most conservative way to replace a lost tooth. Unlike a conventional bridge, it does not rely on the teeth next to the gap, and unlike a denture it is fixed. The implant replaces the root, the crown replaces the visible tooth, and you clean it as you would your own teeth.
Fixed, stands alone, supports the bone where the tooth was lost. Requires a healing period and a short surgical step.
From £2,750Fixed and quicker to complete, but usually involves shaping the teeth either side to hold the bridge.
Quoted individuallyThe simplest and least invasive option to start with, but removable and less stable when eating.
Quoted individuallyThere is no single right answer for everyone. Dr Anti will explain the pros and cons of each for your mouth, so you can decide calmly.
"Implants are only for older people." Myth. Implants are used for adults of all ages once the jaw has finished growing; tooth loss through sport, accidents or a cracked tooth is common in younger adults too.
"You can tell an implant from a natural tooth." Not usually. A well-matched crown blends in with the teeth around it.
"Implants never need any care." Myth. They need the same daily cleaning and regular check-ups as natural teeth to stay healthy.

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Some tenderness afterwards is normal and usually settles within a few days. We do not offer sedation.
Usually a few months, mainly to allow the implant to bond with the bone before the final crown is fitted.
Sometimes, depending on the bone and the position of the tooth. Your scan helps decide whether that is sensible for you.
With good daily cleaning and regular check-ups, implants can last for many years. The crown may need replacing at some point, as with any crown.
